Two Slack Davis Sanger Cases Ranked Among the Top 10 Settlements in Texas for 2019
TopVerdict.com has released its rankings for the Top 10 Settlements in Texas in 2019 and listed the firm’s $52 million settlement in Grigson v. Farmers Group Inc. as number two, and its $5 million settlement in Kos v. Superior Air Parts Inc. as number nine on the list.
In Grigson v. Farmers Group Inc., Managing Partner Mike Slack and Partner John Davis represented approximately 700,000 Texas Farmers auto insurance policyholders who were discriminated against by the company in favor of newer policyholders. The $52 million settlement for the class is one of the largest settlements of its kind for a single state.
In Kos v. Superior Air Parts Inc., Slack and Partner Ladd Sanger obtained a $5 million settlement on behalf of the families of pilot Dane Sheahen and passenger James Kos, who were killed when their plane crashed in March 2016. According to crash investigators, the crankshaft in the Superior Air Parts XP-400 failed during the flight due to metal fatigue. The settlement has been featured in Dallas Morning News, Texas Lawbook and Aviation Pros, among others.
