Case Details:

On January 5, 2002, HALO One, a Bell 206L air ambulance helicopter, N2135Y, was dispatched from Beeville Hospital to Memorial Medical Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. The air ambulance was operated by Houston Helicopters, Inc. Their mission was to transport a badly burned patient. Shortly after takeoff, the helicopter engine failed. The pilot made an unpowered auto-rotation landing from between 1200 to 1500 feet near Skidmore, Texas. The impact of the hard landing caused physical injuries to the EMS technicians aboard. They also experienced emotion trauma from the terror of the free fall before the landing.
Slack Davis Sanger represented both of the EMS technicians in their suit for compensation for physical and emotional trauma injuries they suffered due to the negligence of Houston Helicopters, Inc. Mike Slack secured a pre-trial settlement for both plaintiffs.
